RURAL TV Helps Royal Bath & West Show Attract Record 155,960 Visitors
London, 2 June 2009 – RURAL TV, the world’s rural channel, announced today that the 2009 Royal Bath & West Show has been hailed as one of the best attended events in recent years with a record attendance of 155,960 visitors through the gate. This is the second highest attendance since 2004 and another record in the show’s century spanning history.
Livestock numbers across the board were excellent with the quality of entries exceptionally high with Mortimer’s Farm winning Supreme Champion Beef Animal with their Charolais Bull ‘Mortimer’s Eurovision’. RURAL TV witnessed a steady stream of visitors throughout the show, as did the tradestand vendors. Many of the vendors even reported running completely out of stock before the close of the show on Saturday.
RURAL TV, available in the UK on Sky 279 and Freesat 403, aired promos for Royal Bath and West Show weeks prior to the event. With news of the show’s record setting attendance and sales, RURAL TV has begun airing promos for their next event, the South of England Show, running June 11th through to June 13th. Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall stole the show on the Friday visiting many sections of the show and spending a lot of time talking to members of the public and exhibitors. “I got to shake the hand of the Prince of Wales, and now I’m talking to RURAL TV!” said loyal viewer Wendy Manning of Hook Norton who was photographed standing with her pedigreed Herefords in Royal Bath and West’s Beef Arena.
Accompanied by two of the top trainers from Parelli Natural Horsemanship, RURAL TV was situated outside of the main arena throughout the show. While equestrian programming, such as the Parelli Programme, are included in RURAL TV’s weekly on-air schedule, the channel has quickly established a reputation for providing the most diverse, eclectic and thoroughly representative country programming in the UK.
