RURAL TV Equates Record Numbers for South of England

London, 19 June 2009 – The South of England Show, in cooperation with RURAL TV - the world’s rural channel - now reaching into over 10-million homes in the UK, ran a pre-event advertising campaign that helped this year’s show achieve near-record attendance.  

This year’s three-day show, held at the picturesque showgrounds in Ardingly, beat the economic gloom with a combination of perfect show weather, a Royal visit and increased attendance figures – up by nearly 4% to a total attendance 83,818.  HRH Princess Alexandra was Guest of Honour on the first day, touring the packed Ardingly showground and watching a special equestrian event to celebrate the 2009 theme “The Year of the Racecourse.” (photo available)  

RURAL TV helped the organisers deliver the central message of the show.  “We worked with the show’s promoters to air adverts that featured the best of what local farmers and growers were providing for this year’s show,” said Dan Kripke, VP and General Manager for RURAL.  “Although we’re a leading international rural media entity, we haven’t lost sight of how important it is for us to show our support for local farmers, growers and the regional economies they support.”

Since launching in the UK in March of 2009, RURAL TV has solidified its place as a the world’s rural channel, offering innovative programming specific to rural, farming and equestrian lifestyles.  In addition, the channel has earned a dedicated following for the variety of country music and entertainment programmes it currently offers, nearly exclusively, to the UK and Europe.
