RURAL TV Becomes World’s Rural Channel, Reaches 10-Million Across the UK

London, 4 June 2009 – RURAL TV, the world’s rural channel, is a massive success across the UK and Europe, now reaching into more than 10-million UK homes through distribution on Sky Channel 279 and Freesat 403.  As a thoroughly unique, innovative and interesting 24-hour, international, multi-media source for rural lifestyle, farming, equestrian and country music entertainment, RURAL TV is rapidly bridging both geographical and generational borders.

RURAL TV, although launched just a few months ago, has already hit a confident stride within the UK.  Most recently helping England’s famous Royal Bath and West Show attract more than 155,000 visitors, a near record attendance in an area badly hit by the current economic crunch.  In addition, the channel has added several new and accomplished members to their staff and will be adding up to 8 new hours of programming this summer. Plus, no other channel in the world offers such a wide variety of international programming that’s been carefully selected and tailored just for the farming, equestrian, country music and rural-lifestyles.
As “The World’s Rural Channel” RURAL TV is committed to bridging the gaps that exist between rural issues and rural entertainment.  RURAL TV is dedicated to seeking out informative programming and content that is both useful and educational.  RURAL TV provides programmes that offer perspective on the multifaceted and diverse sides of country living.

According to Dan Kripke, VP and General Manager of RURAL TV in London, UK, “RURAL TV is a rapidly expanding international entity, with impeccably firm roots and a solid tradition of quality programming that’s creatively mixed with locally relevant news and stories. Our viewers think of RURAL TV as their own personal door to the rest of the rural world.”

As part of the already well-respected Rural Media Group, Inc., the parent company of RFD-TV, rural America’s most important network, RURAL TV enjoys the same entrepreneurial spirit that has helped to make RFD-TV such a major success within the United States.  “We are working in association with several UK partners to add new programme blocks and we’re actively seeking out partnerships and new ideas that will enhance, compliment and energise our current on-air schedule,” says Patrick Gottsch, President and Founder of Rural Media Group, Inc.
“Enrichment is the word that best describes our plans for RURAL TV over the next few years,” adds Gottsch.  “We’re using the UK as our logical launch point because there is such a universally strong commitment and concern about rural issues in every part of the UK.  While preliminary programmes for the UK have, and will continue to be, focused on local elements, plans are in place to add progressively more internationally-driven content.”

“A return to rural values, simpler ways, more efficient, cleaner and, above all, more pleasant lives is part of the appeal of RURAL TV,” says Dan Kripke.  “Regardless of where you live, there is a shared human desire to impart time-honoured traditions to our children and to secure a healthier, better way of life for the generations to come – that’s the reason for RURAL TV and the reason why we’re here doing what we do for the rural world.”
